While many people come here to enjoy the facilities of the lake, sailing, fishing and watersports, or a trip on the famous Windermere Steamers, there is a lot else to do.
The most popular outdoor activity in the Lake District is fellwalking, but this is also good cycling country, both on and off-road.
The nearby towns of Ambleside, Grasmere and Bowness offer a range of shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants and attractions. A little further afield are Keswick and Kendal and many peaceful villages.
A browse through some of the websites listed on our links page will provide information on the many facilities available here in Lakeland.
